The aim of this Manual Handling training course is to comply with legislation and to teach trainees on safe manual handling techniques thus helping to avoid work place injuries. Our Manual Handling - Classroom based training provides comprehensive information on best practices to help reduce the risk of injury in manual activities.
We will work with up to 12 participants in the classroom environment to ensure they understand the risks and techniques for safe, effective manual handling.
Course Content:
- Background to Manual Handling legislation.
2. Anatomy – discs, vertebrae, muscles, tendons.
3. Risk Assessments – how to carry them out.
4. Exercise and flexibility.
5. Dangers of poor manual handling methods.
6. Understand the limitations of the spine and muscular system.
7. How the body is harmed through incorrect manual handling techniques.
8. How to handle loads safely – principles of lifting.
9. Practice in safe handling of loads -
a. Lifting to and from ground level
b. Lifting to and from a height
c. Pushing
d. Pulling
e. Lifting bags/sacks
f. Pushing a trolley
g. Lifting a table (two person lift)
