Legionella Awareness

This short online course on Legionella awareness for people working in hotels, leisure centres, spas and similar hospitality settings. Legionella is a bacterium found naturally in water. In the right conditions — warm, still water in the systems all around us — it can multiply to levels that cause Legionnaires' disease, a potentially fatal form of pneumonia. The good news is that it is almost entirely preventable through simple, everyday water management, and that is exactly what this course is about.
You'll learn what Legionella is and how people are exposed, where the risk hides in a typical building, what Irish health and safety law requires of your employer and of you, and the practical checks — flushing, temperature control, reporting — that keep water safe. You don't need any technical background; everything is explained in plain language, with the reasoning behind it, so the habits make sense rather than feeling like box-ticking.
By the end, you'll understand your own part in keeping customers and colleagues safe — and why it matters.

Assessments
This course contains online self assessments after each module and an online certification exam at the very end. The self assessments do not count towards the final examination marks but simply give you an idea of how you are doing. On successfully passing the final certification exam you will be issued with a certificate.

Duration & Other Information
You do not have to complete the online course in one sitting and you can also break it into small chunks if you wish. Should you have to leave the course unexpectedly, it will remember where you were the last time you left it. How long it takes you to complete the online course really depends on you but 90 minutes is a good guideline.
